Swift outwardly advocated for the LGBTQ+ community with her 2019 song “You Need To Calm Down,” directing attention toward the Equality Act. As its website says:

“[The United States] civil rights laws protect people on the basis of race, color, national origin, and in most cases, sex, disability, and religion. But federal law does not provide consistent non-discrimination protections based on sexual orientation or gender identity.”

Her June 15th tweet about the Supreme Court ruling was similar to last Friday’s speech:

She said, “We still have a long way to go to reach equality, but this is a beautiful step forward. 🌈❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🌈”
