Leonardo DiCaprio, Cillian Murphy and Simon Cowell: Stars who are unexpectedly

The average height for a male in the UK and Ireland is 5ft 9 inches.

But many of the biggest celebrities who are killing the game are much shorter than the common statistic.

As it turns out, actors, telly stars and singers are not required to be to a certain height it order to make it big in Hollywood.

They say that the camera adds ten pounds, but it also appears to add a couple of inches judging by how short stars such as Cillian Murphy, Brad Pitt and Simon Cowell are in real lie.

While their on-screen presence may be larger than life, these stars are among the shortest male’s in the limelight.

Cillian Murphy – 5ft 7 inches

Irish heartthrob Cillian Murphy stands at just 5ft and 7inches.

Although he is classed as just under average height according to UK standards, the Peaky Blinders star, 44, appears much taller on screen.

The Cork native is regarded as one of the hottest actors to come out of the Emerald Isle with admirer’s all over the world swooning over his big bright blue eyes and chiselled cheekbones.

Cillian is a taken man though, and is married to Irish artist Yvonne McGuinness with whom he shares two children – Malachy and Aran.

Simon Cowell – 5ft 9 inches

Britain’s Got Talent mogul Simon Cowell is much shorter in reality than his on-screen persona.

The 60-year-old is a mere 5ft and 9inches tall.

This hasn’t altered his success or luck with the ladies as Simon’s net worth is rumoured at a whopping £385 million.

As well as that, the music mogul has enjoyed several romances with some of the most beautiful women in the industry including model Sinitta, singer Dannii Minogue and current flame, Lauren Silverman.

Leonardo DiCaprio – 5ft 11 inches

Although he reaches above the average height scale by two inches, Leonardo DiCaprio’s height is somewhat surprising.

The Titanic actor looks as though he’s well over six foot tall in red carpet photographs down through the years.

With his track record of dating models including Giselle, Naomi Campbell and Camila Morrone, it’s no wonder the 45-year-old is regarded as tall.

It’s fair to say that his height has not herd him back though, as of 2019, Leo’s films have earned US$7.2 billion worldwide, and he has placed eight times in annual rankings of the world’s highest-paid actors.
