‘Isn’t he a billionaire?’ Kanye West slammed by Sharon Osbourne for taking PPP
Sharon Osbourne is taking ‘billionaire’ Kanye West to task for receiving millions in PPP small business loans.
The Talk panelist said it was ’embarrassing’ for the rapper/fashion designer to accept the money from the federal government’s Payroll Protection Program while sounding off during Wednesday’s episode.
‘When you are so wealthy, your family, everybody in your family is so wealthy, why are you doing this?’ Sharon, 67, wondered before adding: ‘I think he should give the money back.’

‘Embarrassing’: Sharon Osbourne slammed Kanye West for taking millions of dollars in PPP small business loans for his apparel brand Yeezy
On Monday the federal government released the the names and some other details of recipients who were approved for $150,000 or more of the small business stimulus. (Those names only account for 15% of the PPP’s total recipients.)
One of the more surprising recipients was West’s Yeezy brand, which received somewhere between $2m to $5million in order to keep 106 people employed, according to data from the Treasury Department.
This news comes just months after Forbes bestowed Kanye with the coveted billionaire status, valuing the multi-hyphenate at $1.3billion.
And Sharon wasn’t impressed.
‘Well he should have used the 1.3 [billion] and put it in his company,’ she told her fellow panelists during the latest remote episode of the CBS chat show.

‘I know obviously, you know the airlines had to be bailed out, but for me, it’s kind of like small companies, I thought it was like mama and papa type companies that really don’t have that much profit in the bank so you know they need help to keep people’s jobs and everybody going.’
‘And I just think that when you have that sort of cash, it’s embarrassing to ask when you have it yourself.’
She continued: ‘You have it, you have more than enough to keep 100 people going, so why ask the government, take from the government? I just don’t get that.
