Tom Cruise refuses to play villain in 'Wonder Woman' with Gal Gadot: rumor

Tom Cruise, allegedly, refused to star in Wonder Woman alongside Gal Gadot because he won’t be taking the first billing in the project.

According to National Enquirer, Tom Cruise is very particular about the roles that he accepts. And he doesn’t like playing the villain because this means that he would take second billing following lead star Gadot.

An unnamed source told the tabloid that Cruise considers himself as “box office Superman.” And if he will accept a role in a comic book flick, Cruise, allegedly, wants to play the role of a superhero.

Wonder Woman 1984 is Gal’s project – not his. But when and if he does this kind of movie, he knows he’ll be running the show and the camera will be focused squarely on him and not on anyone else,” the source said.

The insider also said that Gadot was hoping the Cruise would accept the offer to play the role of a villain. After all, they are friends. The source also said that Gadot was a little hurt when Cruise rejected the offer.

“It wasn’t like it was a small part. As the villain, he was going to get camera time, but Tom likes to be the hero. He’s sorry that Gal and director Patty Jenkins were disappointed, but that’s his decision,” the source said.

Is Tom Cruise difficult to work with?

Rumors about Tom Cruise being difficult to work with have been rife in recent months.

Life & Style revealed that a slew of celebrities has come forward to share their negative experiences with the actor.

Rob Lowe previously detailed a heated encounter between him and Cruise while they were filming The Outsiders. While rehearsing their fight scene, Lowe accidentally hit Cruise’s nose and the latter was, reportedly, enraged.

The people on the set had to pull the actors apart to prevent their fight from escalating. Lowe said that Cruise was ready to kill him after what happened.

Lowe and Cruise had another encounter when they found out that they would be roommates in New York for the final audition for The Outsiders. The former said that Cruise went ballistic because he didn’t want to stay in the same room with him.

The actor’s nickname in Hollywood revealed

In the book, Memoirs and Misinformation, Jim Carrey revealed that other actors in Hollywood refer to Cruise as Jack Lightning.

“That’s just us poking fun at the litigiousness of Hollywood. I know Tom Cruise. He may sock me, but hey, I’ll take the beating for a piece of art,” Carrey said.
